From the article: Blogging Privacy and Safety
With so many people blogging about their day-to-day lives, how do we ensure the safety and privacy of our kids? What are your own rules about what you will and won't post in blogs, forums and other online spaces?

Do unto my kid as I do unto myself

I view my child's privacy as just as important as my own. That said, I'm not too worried about posting a photo of myself on the internet, and so I'm not afraid of posting my son's photo. Plus, he's too cute not to share! ;-) My rule is not to be stupid. If a photo is not one I would share with my MIL then I'm not posting it online (and not just because she's the primary audience of my son's photo gallery...). I'll save prints of the embarrassing baby photos to show his girlfriend and he can be doubly embarrassed that I have a pic of him in the bath AND that I still print photos. :-D

Very Leery of Posting Pictures Online

I'm cautious about posting pictures of my kids. I don't worry about someone taking them for ads as much as I worry about someone with ill intentions looking at pictures of my child for kicks. I post minimal pictures, but I never use his name. There are just too many unknowns out there on the Internet.

I post pics, but am careful about names

I do post pictures of my children on my blog (which has only about 50 readers/day). I use numeric file names and no alt tags on the pictures to discourage search engines from picking them up. I don't use my own last name or my kids' real first names, so that anyone searching my child's name (now or in the future) won't come to my blog. I also don't disclose where we live.
