If you are concerned, please consider trying a game out (via free demo or video game rental) before purchasing it for your family.
Just Dance for the Wii
Just Dance from Ubisoft is a dance game that's great for groups. With up to 4 players allowed (although anyone can join in) and more than 30 songs to choose from, it's more fun to bring your friends along.
Disney's Alice in Wonderland for the DS
This quirky Nintendo DS movie tie-in is surprisingly fun and engaging. The cross between action, platform and puzzle game play keeps things interesting and the graphics are top notch. The opportunity to play as four different characters, each with special abilities, is also a plus.
LEGO Indiana Jones
LEGO Indiana Jones makes a great use of the LEGO video game platform and the trademark LEGO humor is a wonderful match for the storyline ("Snakes. Why does it always have to be snakes?"). Strong, albeit imperfect, multi-player option as well.
