Twitter Brings Interactivity to Fox Shows

Monday August 31, 2009

Fox has announced that they will be repeating episodes of their shows Fringe and Glee complete with streaming 140-character Twitter commentary. These "tweet-peats" will include question-and-answer sessions with actors and writers, as well as stories from behind-the-scenes. Users can tweet their questions and comments, too.

The first Fringe tweet-peat is from the first season and will air on Thursday, September 3rd at 9pm EST and then again at 9pm PST.

The first Glee tweat-peat is the series pilot and will air on Friday, September 4th at 9pm EST and again at 9pm PST.

I tried to watch the re-run of Fringe tonight. The tweet-peat is one of the worst ideas that any network bozo has ever come up with. It made the show all but impossible to watch. Feedback on the Fox blog was overwhelmingly negative. Most said that they quit watching.

If I was on the Glee production team, I would be scared to death that Friday’s tweet-peat will do more harm than good!

Just because something CAN be done does not mean that it SHOULD be done.
