Gooey Fun with World of Goo

Tuesday October 28, 2008

Imagine yourself in a world populated by a species made entirely of goo. These little goo balls want nothing more than to stick together and to reach that giant drainpipe in the sky. Sound intriguing? If so, you're in luck.

The World of Goo exists in a video game of the same name designed by 2D Boy and published by Brighter Minds Media.

I wrote a full review of the game, which received the rare and coveted 5-star rating. Simply put, World of Goo is a unique game with gorgeous artwork, quirky characters (and equally quirky little voices) and even some educational value. It's a puzzle-solving, building, physics sort of game, but that doesn't do it justice. In fact, I recommend you download the demo and try it out for yourself. You can then visit my review and share your own thoughts.

The World of Goo is family friendly (rated E for everyone), although younger kids will probably need some help. It's available for Windows and the Wii and I believe they are working on a Mac OS version.

You can pre-order a boxed copy (compare prices) just in time for the holidays!

My 6 year old son just finished it by himself. I am slightly embarrased since I don’t know if I could do it :) .
