Virtual Worlds for Teens

Wednesday July 30, 2008

It seems like every day there's a new virtual world opening up. I've already highlighted some Virtual Worlds for Young Kids and Virtual Worlds for Tweens. Now it's time for the teens to have their say! I've started listing some of the top Virtual Worlds for Teens, but there are plenty more out there. If you have any you'd like to see me add, please leave a comment and let me know. Don't just send a link... if possible, tell me why you like it.

My girls are getting more and more into these virtual worlds, and my husband and I are starting to look more into what these sites are exposing them to. My kids seem to prefer Club Penguin over others, although when barbiegirls came out, they where only playing that a few days, now they seem to only play Club Penguin. We did see another new one at the Los Angeles Fair names zoopri. They demonstrated some games, which my kids loved and we loved, because they actually where teaching them something. I think they copied Club Penguin a little, because they also have an Island, except instead of snow it is tropical. I must admit that it did offer some great educational things that my kids loved…surprise surprise…lol They spoke about safety, but they had no safety features which they could demonstrate to us. they said that they are not launched yet. Do you know much about them?

Haven’t heard about them but have heard about Club Penguin. It’s a pretty safe site. If you’re looking for an educational site, another interesting one that my 7 year old daughter and 9 year old son both love and enjoy is secretbuilders.com. Fun, safe and hey, if they’re learning something, then that’s great!

Habbo Hotel is a safe, teen friendly site. It is sensored by active moderators making sure that the site is as safe it can be for all habbo members. It is fun, and educational. I know a lot of teenagers that can’t get enough of habbo.

Have you ever heard of wizard 101? It’s good for tweens it’s a virtual world of wizards, there is the evil wizard, and the player is “the one” to save the spiral (the universe)

I think webkinz is a good website, but it gets a little boring after a while. Whyville is a good safe website, and habbo hotel is one of my favorites. I also like Quiaonline. I like the websites where you can design a virtual person. Anyone got any ideas for that?
