Parenting Site of the Week: Goosie Cards

Monday February 25, 2008

I'm a big fan of art for children, but when my son was born, I wanted real pictures of every day items to show to him. For example, I thought he should know what a real zebra looked like before he got attached to the fanciful images that graced his nursery. Apparently, I'm not the only mom who feels that way. "Mompreneur" Jennifer Marchetti not only wanted real pictures, but she wanted real pictures of people, places and things her son saw every day. And so Goosie Cards were born.

Goosie Cards are large laminated flash cards that can be customized with your own pictures and text. You might choose to include photos of grandparents who live far away, snapshots of a favorite pet or doll, or pictures of your child doing every day things. Upload your photos, choose your package (10 cards for $28, 20/$40 or 26/$46), customize the text and place your order. You can even use standard photos from the Goosie Cards site or purchase pre-packaged gift sets that include trucks, food and a sign language alphabet. They also offer gift certificates, which would be a unique gift choice for baby showers, first birthdays and other similar events.

I had the delightful experience of meeting Jen, her husband, and her brother at the Toy Fair in New York this year. It's nice to be able to highlight a family-owned and run business!
