Funky Newsletter and the Importance of Saving Your Work

Thursday February 14, 2008

First off, my apologies to subscribers of the Family Computing newsletter. I spent quite some time yesterday getting it all ready to go out... and then I forgot to hit "save." Ack! The newsletter you received wasn't exactly the newsletter I intended to send.

I'm sure this has happened to some of you, so it seems like a good time to mention one of the cardinal rules of computing... save your work and save it often!

While we're on the subject, anyone want to share any embarrassing computer snafus to make me feel better? The email you accidentally sent to the wrong person? A typo that completely changed the meaning of your memo? C'mon... we're all friends here!

I once sent an email about how a friend hurt my feelings to that friend instead of to my intended recipient. I definitely had egg on my face after that one! Sometimes, you just want to vent, but it’s a good idea to double-check your addresses first :D

I can’t think of any major tragedies, but I’ve definitely had a few snafus that caused me to rewrite something I was working on because I did not hit save or the computer crashed. And I live in fear of something happening to my hard drive because I have so many family photos, invoices, and other important stuff on it. I know I should back it up, but it will take sooooo… long to do! Thanks for sharing your mistake. We’re all human, so we can all relate.
