Parent Site of the Week: Swaptree
I find myself continually drowning in piles of stuff that I intend to use, but never really do. To make matters worse, I am physically incapable of throwing away a book (even if I hated it). Swaptree is made for people like me. Once you have registered (for free), you can offer up books, movies, CDs and video games for trade. Tell Swaptree what you have and what you want. They'll match you with other users who may be interested in a trade. Once you select the best match (they've got an e-Bay inspired rating system), you can print a pre-paid mailing label and put it out for your mail carrier.
The service itself is free. You'll pay for shipping, plus some small premium charges for the convenience of printing your labels at home. Definitely read the FAQ on the site so you know exactly what you're getting in for.
I think it's a brilliant way to reduce waste and save money. Now if they only had a similar swap service for baby clothes, toys and gear... anyone?

A member of my book club showed me http://www.swaptree.com a few weeks ago, and I have been ADDICTED ever since. Amazing.
It’s the coolest site on the net.
I think Swaptree looks like the “ebay of swap”. And hang on to your baby clothes. As they expand I’m sure you’ll be able to trade them on Swaptree too.
