Nostalgia Abounds at the Rosetta Project
There is no shortage of children's books available today. In fact, the sheer volume of them can be overwhelming for a parent looking for a good story for his or her kids. But what about all of those old books? The ones your parents or grandparents read as a child? They often aren't "appropriate" by today's standards, but it can be fun to take a look back. You can now visit some of the earliest children's books ever published at Children's Books Online from The Rosetta Project.
Some of the gems you can find on the site:
- Jack and the Beanstalk, published in 1897
- The Tale of Benjamin Bunny by Beatrix Potter, published in 1904
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol, illustratrad by John Tenniel and published in 1901
You can view all of the pages online for free, or download them for an additional fee. Please remember that the books on the site were written in a different time, and may no longer be socially appropriate in today's climate. As with anything for children, it's always wise to preview them before introducing them to your kids.
