Penguins Give Back

Sunday December 16, 2007

Club Penguin, the Disney-Owned social networking site/virtual world for kids, has launched Coins for Change in an effort to promote social responsibility among young people. From December 14th-24th, members of Club Penguin can donate the coins they earn while on the site to one of three causes. According to the Club Penguin website, the causes are: environmental issues, children's heath and children in developing countries. New Horizon Foundation, an organization affiliated with Club Penguin, will then donate 1 million (real) dollars to a charity in each of those categories. Each coin donated by members acts as a virtual vote about how the money should be allocated giving kids a voice in the process.

The three organizations who will benefit are: the World Wildlife Fund, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and Free the Children.
