Streaming Santa

Saturday December 8, 2007

It seems that this year, Santa has decided to take the plunge and REALLY go high tech. Forget those static websites... it's time for streaming Santa! From December 9th-15th (8-9pm EST), Santa will be taking part in a live online broadcast/chat straight from North Pole, AK. Your kids can listen in and maybe even ask questions.

The broadcast will take place on Ustream.TV, a site that allows you to create your own streaming, interactive online video. This holds a lot of creative possibilities. Run a class for homeschoolers from around the world. Invite distant family members to "join in" for birthday parties and holiday celebrations. Allow the grandparents to experience your child's first steps live from thousands of miles away. Visit Ustream.TV and browse through their "channels" to see what's going on. Remember, though, that not all content will be appropriate for all audiences.

The Santa broadcast will be moderated, but I recommend that you enjoy it with your children. Also, take the time the night before to make sure that you aren't going to experience any technical difficulties when your kids are waiting for Santa.
